Can solar alone power the AC without any battery?
Not practically. Solar production is variable (cloud cover, night, low sun angle) while AC load is steady — the battery provides buffer for both day-night cycle and weather variability. A small battery (100Ah) plus solar is the minimum practical setup.
How much rooftop solar do I need for overnight AC?
Rule of thumb: 200W solar per 100Ah battery for daily replenishment in moderate climates. For 8-hour overnight cooling needing 200Ah, plan 400W solar to ensure recovery within typical driving + parked daytime hours.
Will solar work in cloudy UK/German weather?
