Table of Contents
Most parking air conditioner problems in the field fall into five categories: no power, no cooling, noise, water leakage, and battery drain. This guide walks through the field checks Vethy support uses before requesting an RMA, and is written for 12V and 24V rooftop and split parking AC units in trucks, vans and overland builds.
This page is a generic field troubleshooting guide for Vethy 12V/24V parking air conditioners. Always disconnect the battery before opening the unit and follow the install manual that shipped with your specific model. Refrigerant work (R410A) must be performed by a certified technician.
1. Unit will not power on (no display, no fan)
- Check battery voltage at the unit power input. 12V unit needs >11.6 V; 24V unit needs >23.2 V. Below low-voltage cutoff the unit will refuse to start.
- Check the inline fuse on the positive supply lead (typically 40A for 12V, 25A for 24V).
- Check the ground bond at the chassis ground point — corrosion is the #1 cause.
- Cycle the main battery isolator and try again.
2. Unit runs but does not cool
- Confirm setpoint is below ambient (e.g. 22 °C with cab at 30 °C).
- Check the return-air filter for dust/lint — most cooling complaints are clogged filters. See how to clean the filter (page coming soon).
- Check the condenser coil on the roof — bugs, leaves, road debris block airflow.
- Listen for the compressor: a soft click + no run-up usually means low refrigerant pressure (call a certified tech).
3. Excessive noise, vibration or buzzing
See the full parking AC noise problem guide. Common causes: loose roof mounting bolts, gasket compression uneven, fan blade contact, evaporator drain pan resonance.
4. Water leakage inside the cab
See parking AC water leakage guide. Most leaks are blocked condensate drain or roof gasket compression issues, not refrigerant.
5. Error codes / fault lights
See parking AC error code reference for E1–E9 codes and meanings.
6. Battery drains overnight
See parking AC battery drain guide. Most often: undersized battery bank, weak AGM cells, or low-voltage cutoff disabled.

Frequently asked questions
Where is the inline fuse on the 12V parking AC?
Vethy ships a 40A blade fuse in the included harness, located within 30 cm of the positive battery terminal. Replace with same rating only.
What is the lowest battery voltage before the unit shuts off?
Default cutoff is 11.4 V for 12V units and 22.8 V for 24V units, protecting the cranking circuit.
Can I reset error codes by power-cycling?
Most transient codes (E1, E2) clear on power cycle. Persistent codes (E5+) indicate a sensor or refrigerant issue and need service.
Do you offer remote diagnostics?
Yes — email a short video + serial number to support and we will walk you through it.
