Table of Contents
Layer 1 — Dedicated auxiliary battery bank
Never run parking AC off the starting battery. Install a dedicated auxiliary bank sized for nameplate Ah × 1.0 (LiFePO4) or × 2.0 (AGM). For VS02 PRO 24V × 8-hour runtime, that is 224 Ah LiFePO4 or 450 Ah AGM.Layer 2 — Battery isolator / DC-DC charger
Install a smart battery isolator (relay-based) or DC-DC charger (electronic) between starting and auxiliary banks. The isolator ensures the starting bank is never discharged by parking AC. DC-DC chargers add proper multi-stage charge profiles for the auxiliary bank.Layer 3 — Low-voltage disconnect (LVD)
Set the LVD on the parking AC controller to 21.5V (24V system) or 10.8V (12V system). Below LVD the AC shuts off automatically, preserving battery for engine start and house loads. Never disable LVD.Layer 4 — Recharge strategy
Three recharge sources: (a) engine alternator while driving — sized 80A+ for fast LiFePO4 recharge; (b) rooftop solar 200–400W for daytime trickle; (c) shore power with smart 30A LiFePO4 charger overnight at truck stops with EHU.Real-world fleet example
Class-8 sleeper with VS02 PRO 24V, 280 Ah LiFePO4 auxiliary, 60A DC-DC charger, 200W solar, LVD at 21.5V — supports 9–10 hours overnight cooling at 35°C and recharges fully in 6 hours of driving.Battery monitor — visibility for the driver
Install a shunt-based battery monitor (Victron BMV-712 or equivalent) so the driver sees true Ah remaining, not just voltage. Email service@vethy.com or call +86-532-87729918 for service manuals, spare-parts catalogues and warranty support within 24 hours.Frequently asked questions
Can I run parking AC off the starting battery?
Strongly discouraged. The starting battery is not designed for deep discharge and will be ruined in 30–50 cycles.
LiFePO4 vs AGM for parking AC — which is better?
LiFePO4: 90% usable DoD, 3000+ cycles, ~$300/100Ah. AGM: 50% safe DoD, 400 cycles, ~$200/100Ah. LiFePO4 is cheaper per usable Ah-cycle for high-use parking AC fleets.
What size DC-DC charger do I need?
Match to alternator capacity. Class-8 trucks with 160A alternators can support 60A DC-DC chargers; pickups with 100A alternators support 30A units.
Does Vethy supply LiFePO4 batteries?
Yes — 12V and 24V LiFePO4 packs and DC-DC chargers are available as bundled OEM kits.
Will solar fully recharge the battery overnight?
No — solar is daytime trickle only. After an 8-hour overnight cooling cycle, expect to recharge primarily via engine alternator (driving) or shore power.
Can the parking AC LVD be set lower for more runtime?
Not recommended. Lower LVD risks battery damage and engine no-start. The factory LVD is set conservatively to protect battery and starting capability.
