An industry award can help you discover a product, but your vehicle still needs its own selection checks. Recognition does not establish overnight runtime, installation compatibility or noise at the sleeping position in a particular RV.
Read the category accurately
Truma's 30 January 2026 announcement reports a second-place result for the second-generation Aventa roof air conditioner in the overall-concept accessories/equipment category. The technology-category first-place award mentioned in the same release belongs to the CombiNeo heater. Keeping the product and category together avoids a misleading comparison.
Distinguish recognition from performance evidence
Award information explains what was recognized by an awarding process. A technical datasheet specifies a product under defined conditions. An installation drawing addresses physical requirements. A vehicle trial shows what happened in one configuration. Each evidence type answers a different question.
When shortlisting products, keep an evidence column beside every important claim. For example, “fits this roof” should point to the installation review, while “meets the agreed rest-period comfort target” should point to the trial record. An award logo cannot fill every evidence column.
Build a practical shortlist
First eliminate configurations that cannot use the available supply or fit within the approved installation envelope. Then compare cooling capability under relevant conditions, likely charging requirements and service arrangements. Finally, consider convenience features and preferred controls.
If two products publish noise or efficiency figures using different conditions, mark the comparison as incomplete. Ask for the missing conditions or arrange a common test. A precise number without a clear measurement basis can be less useful than a transparent range.
Ask the supplier to demonstrate the outcome
Agree on the vehicle, environment, temperature objective and operating period before a sample test. Include a normal owner handover: changing modes, locating filters, reading errors and reporting a problem. These everyday tasks affect satisfaction even when the headline cooling specification looks suitable.
Use awards to open the research process and vehicle evidence to close the purchase decision. This keeps brand recognition in its proper role while giving the owner, installer and supplier a shared definition of an acceptable result.
Next step
Compare the available configurations in the Vethy product catalog, then request the current model-specific documentation before selecting a unit.
