A large traction battery does not automatically make a 12V or 24V parking AC compatible with an electric truck. The usable accessory supply, permitted operating states and vehicle manufacturer's integration rules determine what can be connected.
Why the question matters in 2026
Volvo's 14 April 2026 electric-truck announcement includes a long-range model advertised at up to 700 km under specified conditions. Separately, Eberspächer announced new 800-volt heating technologies in November 2025. Both illustrate the growth of vehicle thermal systems, but neither announcement establishes permission to connect an aftermarket low-voltage cooler to a traction battery.
Ask about the accessory supply
Obtain the vehicle's approved bodybuilder or accessory guidance. Identify the permitted connection point, supply voltage, continuous and transient load limits, and behavior while the vehicle is parked. Confirm whether the supply remains active during the intended rest period and what conditions cause it to shut down.
The cooling unit's nominal voltage is only one compatibility input. The electrical arrangement must also accommodate its actual demand, protective devices and control behavior. Have qualified personnel assess the complete installation; this article is not a high-voltage connection procedure.
Check vehicle state transitions
Define the states that matter: driving, parked with an occupant, charging and extended storage. Ask which states permit the accessory to operate. Include automatic vehicle sleep, low-energy protection and restart behavior in the acceptance test.
Confirm that the installation does not interfere with existing cabin climate control, diagnostics or scheduled vehicle functions. Document who owns a fault that spans the vehicle and the added equipment. A written integration responsibility is more useful than an informal assurance that the batteries are large enough.
Measure the effect without guessing a range penalty
Record accessory energy over the intended operating period. Do not convert it to a universal kilometres-of-range claim: the vehicle's route, weather, payload and energy consumption all affect that relationship. Present measured energy first, with the operating conditions clearly stated.
For procurement, require an approved integration route, a specific unit configuration and a documented parked-operation trial. If the vehicle already provides adequate parked cooling, evaluate that capability before proposing additional hardware. The objective is reliable driver comfort within the vehicle's supported electrical architecture.
Next step
Compare the available configurations in the Vethy product catalog, then request the current model-specific documentation before selecting a unit.
