The indoor air distribution box can determine whether an RV AC upgrade feels comfortable. Check ceiling clearance and airflow at the places people actually use. Exterior dimensions alone do not describe the experience inside a compact camper.

Why this became a 2026 buying question

Dometic announced its Mini ADB on 29 August 2026 for electronic FreshJet FJX and FJZ rooftop systems. The company presents it as a smaller indoor distribution option. Buyers should verify the exact rooftop-unit and control-system combination with the current compatibility documentation; this announcement does not establish compatibility with Vethy or other manufacturers.

Measure the finished ceiling

Measure from the finished floor to the lowest part of the proposed indoor assembly. Include trim, the ceiling lining and any installation adapter. Then check where occupants stand, open cabinets and move between the bed and the entrance. A comfortable clearance in an empty vehicle may become awkward after bedding, flooring or storage modifications.

Use a full-size outline during planning. Mark the controls and service panels, and test whether they remain reachable when furniture is in its normal position. Record the smallest clearances on the vehicle drawing instead of relying on memory from the inspection.

Follow the air path

Identify where air returns to the unit and where cooled air exits. Look for curtains, partitions or storage that could interrupt that path. A strong stream of cold air at the outlet is not enough if the sleeping area remains warm. The acceptance check should include temperatures at occupied locations and a practical assessment of drafts.

Ask the installer which outlet positions are permitted for the selected system. Do not assume that closing outlets improves performance: the allowed operating arrangement depends on the equipment design. Follow the unit's airflow and service instructions.

Use a compatibility record, not a visual match

Record the rooftop model, indoor module, controller, adapter and firmware requirements where relevant. Confirm which items are included in the quotation. Similar dimensions or a connector that appears to fit do not establish electrical or control compatibility.

The best upgrade resolves a specific cabin problem while retaining service access and the correct matched components. Ask for the final part numbers and installation record at handover. Those details will be more useful during a later repair than a general statement that the RV has a compact AC system.

Next step

Compare the available configurations in the Vethy product catalog, then request the current model-specific documentation before selecting a unit.
