Ask for environmental evidence that matches the assembly.
Environmental suitability must be checked against the exact unit, interfaces and installation conditions. A rating or test associated with one enclosure cannot automatically be applied to a complete vehicle HVAC installation.
Write the exposure requirement
Describe dust, road spray, cleaning, salt exposure, storage and operating temperature. Include connector orientation, cable entries and how the assembly is mounted. Ask the project engineer to translate that operating description into a validation plan.
Keep separate requirements separate. Dust and water ingress evidence does not by itself demonstrate thermal capacity, corrosion life or vibration endurance.
Identify the tested configuration
Ask for the model and revision, test date, issuing organization, sample description and complete scope. Check whether connectors, covers and seals match the proposed supply.
Look for limitations and exclusions as well as a pass statement. A cropped certificate heading is insufficient to establish which product was evaluated.
Connect laboratory evidence to installation
Review whether the installed mounting, airflow, drainage and maintenance access remain consistent with the tested arrangement. Record changes that need an engineering assessment.
