The structure and working principle of EGR system

The exhaust gas recirculation system, or EGR, is composed of EGR valve, EGR vacuum control valve, EGR control solenoid valve, controller (ECM/PCM) and EGR valve lift sensor, as shown in Figure

1. The EGR system and the three-way catalyst cooperate to effectively reduce the NOx production in the exhaust pollutant gas. Since NOx generation is on conditions of high temperature and polyoxygen, EGR only operates in the following situations.
① At low speed, when the water temperature is lower than 50 ℃, the exhaust gas does not circulate to prevent the occurrence of stall;
② At high speed and medium load, the conditions for producing NOx are generally available, and the waste gas valve is put into operation to control the pollution value of NOx emissions.

Modern automobile engine control systems rely on input from multiple sensors to regulate engine performance, emissions and other important functions.

One of the most important sensors in modern cars is the oxygen sensor. Also known as an oxygen sensor because oxygen is the chemical formula for oxygen, an oxygen sensor monitors how much unburned oxygen is present in the engine during exhaust. By monitoring oxygen levels, the sensor provides a way to measure the fuel mixture. The oxygen sensor will tell the computer whether the fuel mixture is oxygen-rich (insufficient oxygen) or oxygen-poor (too much). Knowing the fuel to air ratio will allow your car's engine to make any necessary changes to make sure your car runs properly.
